Mindfulness Through the Arts (TM)

A special program for the care partner with two options!

Option One is an Arts Practice guided by a professional artist for individuals affected by the loss of a loved one or for someone just needing a break from being that special

care partner.

Option Two is the opportunity to enjoy playing some games with others at the Center!

A great time for yourself and to have some fun and engage the mind and enjoy some refreshments. In-person only.

Lunchtime is an enjoyable experience here at the Center for all of our participants. Bring a brown bag lunch and we’ll provide a beverage and special dessert at 11am. At noon,

Sarah Beebe, Outreach Coordinator from Westlake Porter Public Library will be here to host a program about famous American singer, guitarist and songwriter Willie Nelson. Sarah will share images and videos related to his life and music.

Walk & Roll in

the Park(TM)

Thursday, May 8th

Come enjoy a special time together and a healthy walk/roll

in Clague Park. Join us on Thursday mornings at 11am.

(No walk if below 50 degrees or raining.) The Westlake park is located at Clague Road & Hilliard Blvd. Meet at Clague Cabin, inside the park, past the pool. A great way to get to know others and get some fresh spring air. Bring water and/or a snack. There are benches along the

way to stop and rest.

Celebrate the Arts (TM)

and Support Group Session

Friday, May 9th

at 2pm

Be with us on Friday for two options. Sally Ollerton, CLFF Board Member and Kathy Kassimatis, SHARE Coordinator will co-host their monthly Support Group for family care partners. The second option will be an art activity led by a Foundation Resident Artist in our multi-purpose space. Our goal is to accommodate everyone’s interest and need. We invite all to stay for refreshments and to socialize following the sessions.

“Yes, And…” Next Performance on

Saturday, May 17th at the Dobama Theater!

Registration opens on May 3rd at 1:00pm.

The performance provides a communication method to comfortably interact with someone affected by dementia in a non-confrontational way. Cleveland Actress, Writer & Director Anne McEvoy conceived the script and has invited local actors to perform the play. Time for questions and answers following the performance.

Volunteers Needed!!

A Sensory Garden & Brunch

Come be with us on Saturday morning as we prepare our Sensory Garden for the summer season. Join us first for brunch, then we will have a variety of activities to prepare areas for planting flowers, herbs and vegetables in the ground and in raised beds. We need volunteers and ask you to bring small garden tools and cross your fingers for a sunny day. Thank you to David Hopka for all of his work in the gardens and property. Thank you to Petitti’s Avon & Mark Hopka, David’s son for plant material. Thank you also to Cleveland West Road Runners Members Bob Myers and Paul Schlosser for their yard maintenance. Thank you to Westlake – Bay Village Rotary and their members for their hard work. We need individuals to volunteer to help water and maintain the garden throughout the summer. One hour a week to come and water and eliminate those weeds! We will build a schedule around you and your vacation time.

Diane Cole Quilt Exhibit!

Diane’s exhibit in the Center for Artful Living Art Gallery runs through May 30th. A beautiful collection of Diane’s wonderful handcrafted quilts. Many are for sale and the proceeds benefit the Foundation. We are most grateful to Gary Cole.

Gallery is open Monday – Friday, 10 – 5.

Congratulations to one of our wonderful professional Musicians, Chris Kilbane! Chris is recognized as Citizen of the Year in North Olmsted for 2025!

Resident Artist Lee Ann Eyre hosted Wednesday’s Sweet Arts Cafe and participants created a mixed media piece.

Dr. Charlie, caregiver Luana (with Georgie) and Patti take advantage of the great weather for last week’s Walk & Roll last Thursday! Patti met up with us in the park.

On Sunday, April 27th, the Farrell Foundation participated in University Heights Sustainability Fair. Participants learned about environmentally safe practices and recycling initiatives.
